The Montessori educational model, developed by the pedagogue Maria Montessori, is an approach based on drawing up an education and training plan that is appropriate for each child’s individual skills, interests, learning speed and character trait.

According to Montessori, the needs and abilities of each child are different. The basis of the Montessori approach is to respond to the needs of the child and create space for each child to realize and develop his abilities, as well as to educate self-sufficient children.

In this approach, it is aimed to give the child as many options and responsibilities as possible.

By ensuring order and self-discipline, the child is encouraged to research, experiment, and it is ensured that he can realize his own potential in a free environment where he can make mistakes and make these mistakes.

Montessori said, “Human personality, not method, should be taken into account in education.” he emphasizes that the educational method he has developed is based on the fact that each child is special and unique, and leaves the child with a free and original environment to learn and develop.

What is done in Montessori schools?

The task of the teacher in kindergartens and schools providing Montessori education is to prepare the environment and ensure the interaction of children with the environment.

Montessori lessons are divided into age groups organized according to the needs of children, and materials are prepared to support children’s interests and development areas.

According to the Montessori education system, children have a learning experience in which they shape themselves according to their curiosity and progress at their own pace.
What are Montessori toys?

The Montessori method divides toys into five groups.

These groups are; daily life skills, senses, mathematics, language and cosmic education. Montessori toys and materials are prepared for the development of these areas.

Toys are aimed at optimally supporting development in all areas and are in the form of miniature versions of materials used in everyday life.

Daily life skills toys are all kinds of materials that allow you to develop skills in areas such as hand washing, dressing and cleaning.

These are games and toys such as cleaning kit, dinnerware, button buttonhole, shoe lacing. Bells, color and sound boxes, touch tablets are sensory toys.

Toys such as number sticks, numbers from sandpaper and addition and subtraction boards, mathematics, letters from sandpaper, a moving alphabet and a grammar box also make up the language materials. The solar system, animals and maps are also cosmic educational materials.
